I've got to admit that to me, the recent collaboration between Lipstick Queen, Poppy King, and Boots No.7 is a little disappointing.
It's not the products per se - they're great (I'm currently working my way through a whole pile of gorgeous glosses and pigment rich lipsticks), it's the packaging I'm not loving. I just think adding a few dots and Poppy's signature onto the lipstick and glosses isn't quite a big enough creative stretch to make it really pop. When I look at Poppy King's own products, they look exciting and glamorous and yet, when I look at the No.7 they just look a bit dull; like they've had the life sucked out of them. With lipsticks at £12 and glosses at £11, I expected more.
I love innovative packaging and I love collaborations and yet this just doesn't tick any of the boxes for me. That said, Lisa Eldridge has created some gorgeous looks, the products are actually very versatile and good, but the instant visual hit for me is just meh.
